A Delightful Winter-Downtown Winnipeg Is Having

What a delightful winter
strolling through chatty glassed-in corridors
dangled above frozen lines
stinging daggers
fuming cocoons

pioneering a prairie holiday

tower living
entertains mapping the Delta
for a diverting excursion to Hudson's Bay
to barter needless overcoats

envisioning arduous voyageurs
snowshoeing along side
paunchy furless faces
trapped
by encased definitions

what a delightful winter
we'll heartily assuage
a wailing Portage and Main
traipsing its endless circus below.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
'Hardy' souls living in downtown 'Winterpeg' will understand this piece. It is indeed a very real 'winter' city in North America but from the Delta Hotel one can walk 'inside' via a skywalk and (partially underground) for blocks and go just about everywhere in shirt sleeves (including hockey games) without stepping out into cold reality. Worth a visit-especially in winter!
