Shards of a broken wine goblet
Drift on the surface of withering waves
Dawn dethrones the waning night
Saffroned fingers arouse a day
In nakedness she wears her loss
Hot flashes heat hormonal strife
Fermented tears and sweated dew
Awaken somnolent seeds to life
Fervor and fury a woman crowned
Challenging Eastern light
Audacious and bold in character
Femininity her strength and might
Indignant cells spewed their scorn
And spread their malignant blight
Surgical swords did their deed
Removing her female right
Silver sunlight tints her hair
As she ventures towards the west
Wisdom, wit and wealth of mind
Assets from life's queried quest
The wine of an aging chalice sooths
The soul of a dying day
Its crimson pastels the diligent dark
As moonbeams pave her way
