A Distant Star Poem by John Florio

A Distant Star

A lonely star looks so bright
The most beautiful star in my sight,
I wish I may, I wish I might,
To be with you for just one night.

To shoot you through the sky
I have been in an endless flight,
No matter how hard I try and try,
I'm unable to meet your height.

Unfortunately, you are but a star,
Look so near, yet shines far away,
I sometimes do view you from afar,
And I wish there to come and stay.

I'm determined to bask in your grace,
Despite you are still a star there,
Come and help me in this empty space.
'Cause I'm tired struggling here.
