A Divine Soul Poem by Dia Agarwal

A Divine Soul

I look around and see a dark cell
I know this is not going to end well.
As the prisoners in the cell start to fight
I sit in a corner with fright.

The jailer comes with rocks in a plate instead of food
My stomach grumbles and I am in a anxious mood
The jailer comes again and beats me up
And my body start to give up

Everyday my fellow mates tease and beat me
I feel alone and I am down to my knees
Knowing for sins committed by me
Oh I wish I was free

One day I see an unknown person come
He stands in front of my cell and shows me who I have become
I don't know him but he tries to set me free
He takes me to the judge and I begged for forgiveness on my knees

He was learned and knew something which no one did
And told me about my sins and forbid it
I didn't understand at first
But now he is the reason of my devotion's thirst

He was an angel sent from above
And gave me his hand of love
I don't know how to thank him
For what he did was from within
My heart could only sing his glories
And he took away all my worries

He told me the untold truth
And my life was like a shining fruit
I followed his footsteps
And he was with me on every step
A soul sent from beyond
A soul sent to forge a precious bond
The world may not know who he is
But he came and made my world lit.

Dedicated to my Guru Satyaanda Das.
