Like lines on a map, we found our way
to the centre of the world — my father's house.
We must thank God for a glorious year
And drown our differences in bottles of palm wine.
While we morph our frowns to grins,
our feet battled the earth.
We cannot wait to finish this peppery entertainment,
so we can choke on the table
then pray for rain to wash away our sins.
We got drenched in the anger of the rain
And returned with smiling faces.
We excuse ourselves,
One after the other from the table
and tossed the blame on nature's call.
