A Fervent Prayer Poem by Dr John Celes

O Lord,
Open the floodgates of Heaven
To pour thy grace torrentially;
So that I see what I must see
And hear thy divine calls clearly!

So that my lips utter such words
Those please the Creator fully;
So that my legs gain strength to walk
The road to heaven without fall.

So that my tongue may rightly talk
Those virtuous thoughts that fill my mind;
So that my heart filled by Your love
Shall spread the flame to engulf all.

So that my body parts, hands move
In accordance with thine commands;
And help to spread the Kingdom's News
To every soul that comes across!

Use me, O Lord, in ways, You wish
In furthering eternity;
So that I may You better serve
And enter Your Holy City!
Amen.
