A Fool No More - Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Lord how could these eyes have failed me?
How was my heart so blind?
How could my aching soul not see?
Beyond my shallow mind

You heard my soul how much I cried
You felt the pain within
O Lord my God if then I'd died
Festooned with filthy sin

You cleansed me Lord You set me free
The took and broke my chain
The devil had to bend his knee
While I was born again

Eternal life's now mine to share
Eternal love and peace
Blessings cascade from everywhere
And wonders never cease

I've seen The Light I know its true
I've heard my Master's voice
With Heaven will in constant view
This servant's made the choice

Am I a fool to change my mind?
To death lay wide my door!
Am I again to walk as blind?
As many have before

Heaven forbid that it should be
While planted in The Vine
Through Christ I've certain victory
And all of His is mine

By grace I've learned to see these things
The Truth has made me strong
For soon I'll fly on eagle wings
To where I now belong…..
