A Fools Challenge Poem by Chris Harris

A Fools Challenge

To the fields so few beside us
Bright as if with dreaming
As she plays in the darkened sky
Rejoicing of solitude
Released unsummoned

Through the maze of a passing day
Finest of all others
The truth or tales of evening lost
Refusing of departure
Unjoined enchanted

To the years so few before us
Leaving uninvited
Like a child in time remaining
Mistaken of deception
Detached rejected

With the sounds of a changing sky
Joining as the moment
From the times of another place
Belated of reception
Begun forgotten
