A Future Past Poem by Stuart Doggett

A Future Past

Time and distance, arms linked,
Holding it back,
Holding it closed,
Holding together the box I shut
To contain the thoughts
I could not have.

But what am I to do when
Suddenly it’s here,
Suddenly it’s real,
Suddenly it stands before me
And my mind spins so fast
Nothing appears to move.

What am I to do
When what I want so bad
I can't touch
In case the flower crumbles in my grasp.
