A Genuine Search Poem by Avirat Shete

A Genuine Search

Wish people were genuine and sincere
At least with those they hold very dear

Wish they didn't walk around with masks fake
That's more than my fragile heart can take

Wish I could express what I felt openly
Feels claustrophobic, ain't a hyperbole

Be honest to yourself that's the least you can
Call a spade a spade, come on be a man

Rise in your own eyes, ain't you sick of this act
On your health n psyche, an adverse impact

Say what you mean, mean what you say
With loved ones emotions, no need to play

Why be Jekyll by day n Hyde at night
Chameleon changing colors for fright

Be honest, be bold and the world shall admire
Be ready to face even a trial by the fire

Shed that mask, face the best and worst, brave
Be yourself from the womb until your grave

When you fake, you fool yourself the most
Be your true self, not a shadow or a ghost
