She gave us water, so clean and pristine
Forests, mountains, valleys- all lush green
She blessed us with air- so we may breathe
The only planet with life- blessed indeed
But look at what we gave her in return
Choked with gases, she coughs n she burns
Green replaced by dull browns and greys
Open fields and clean rivers, gone are the days
Every river is filthy, at our polluted hands
Once thriving ecosystems, now wastelands
Several sorry species have their fates sealed
Few centuries ago, no one would have believed
Development- at what cost is it gained
Our Mother- she's crippled, oh! she's maimed
Will we eat our money or our gadgets shiny
Without clean water, won't have a grain tiny
Destined to doom, the only planet alive
Darkness all around, none of us will survive
