A Grateful Heart - Poem by Euriel C. Simpson
I can't seem to concentrate
When forced to do the things I hate
Like wearily hopping out of bed
When I'd rather go to sleep instead.
I can't seem to grab a hold
Of summer's heat and winter's cold
But the spring flowers and autumn leaves
Do lend an ear and allay my fears.
I can't seem to comprehend
Why some rejoice while others rend;
But a grateful heart though timid be
Can warm the earth from land to sea.
