A Great Departure Poem by ugochukwu nwogu

A Great Departure

A GREAT DEPARTURE

A deserted market place

A quite village square

The whole community is as dead as night.

The sky wore a dark look

The stars appear dim up in the sky

Echoes the drums and flutes

Elders wearing sack clothes

Mothers advice their children not to go beyond the valelysThe great warriors began the great hunt.

Sympathizers and relations

Surronded the palace

The great warriors stood firm

Behind the empty throne

With fresh human heads in their hands.

Watching the wild wind blow

The oracle priest pick up his flute and blow.

OH WHAT A GREAT DEPARTURE
