A Hallucinogenic Future Poem by Karl Newton

A Hallucinogenic Future

The year 2050
And technology has advanced so far
That human mind can not handle it
We need to expand our mind

The solution to the problem
To rack up technology sales
The government has put everyone on
Hallucinogenic mind expanders
To sync with advances in technology

They start them young
So no difference is known
Take your pills
And comply
The alternative is to die

If you can't use the technology
You will not buy the things
The bank manager will struggle
And the economy will fail.

There will always be rebels in society
And this one is no different
People who refuse to take the pills
Refuse to be controlled
These are society's black sleep
The noisy few
Outcasts and Misfits
Demonised by the monopolised media
And the law.

Locked up in cells
And on hospital wards
Forced to take the pills
Or face the consequences

Sitting in rooms forced to admit
I refuse to conform, I am a none taker
Meeting a sponsor who takes the pills
And encourages them to do the same

Non Hallucinogenic taking rebels.
