A Heart I Do Not Own Poem by Georgia Leana Benedictos

A Heart I Do Not Own

The wind struck my hair
As if it was about to fell.
The sun smiles at my face
As if it was shining on my lace.

I walked along the sandy shore
Sight of the sea I was never bored
Holding his hand
As I jumped from head to toe.

Singing a melancholy
While his face ran out of jolly.
His eyes full of sadness
As he asked me those phrases.

He said, 'Why sing a song full of weary?
When you can laugh among the godly.'
I said, 'Why hold my hand?
When you know I do not own your heart.'

His face was dim, his hand slipped.
He let go of me and then I realized
I can never have this man,
For he is another woman's man.
