Surrounded by twigs and discarded debris
The beauty I saw, had to be freed
I fed it my love and all my desire
A phoenix was born in a passionate fire
It grew and explored, what a wonderful sight
Unfurling its wings as it took off in flight
You rolled and I cringed, you glided, I smiled
I cheered and I clapped, I laughed like a child
In awe of your beauty I stood there below
I watched you transform, you started to glow
With a wish and a prayer and a little of charm
You floated to earth, just to perch on my arm
Nested to my chest, your head on my shoulder
You made me feel tall, I grew so much bolder
I talked of the future and how it could last
As we walked by the trees, the hills and the grass
Dark clouds were above us and sharp rocks below
With all of our love, we had no where to go
At the edge of a cliff, we watched the sunset
I threw you up high and together we leapt
You spread open your wings, you circled above
Eternally grounded, I hold to your love
