A Helping Hand Poem by Aman Biswas

A Helping Hand

I had no reason to be loved
None to be cherished
While you had every reason beside you
More so than words could carry

And yet you fell for me

While i was reluctant with my broken heart
It seemed like a dream come true
One which i would rather not believe
In fear of it being torn in two

And yet you opened the doors

While i tried to close them with all my strength
Albeit i gave away a little
To see if you really wanted to get in
Or just came to take a peek

Days passed by like minutes

It felt as if i had entered a dream
No fantasy could match my feelings
That which surged through my heart
When i felt your touch and met your lips

And then it happened
What i feared

You left, leaving my door open for others to see
Letting them come in uninvited
When you knew i'd rather not
Let them see through to me

Heart broken, i was left again
Crying at an open door waiting to see
Kneeling eagerly, praying
Hoping for someone to hear me

But it never went through to you
No matter how hard i tried
The prayers i said, the tears i shed
No hand of yours came ever again
To help me.
