A Letter From A Soldier Poem by BAL KRISHAN PANDITA

A Letter From A Soldier

I am just a soldier
And in love with my land
I am here to fight
Till the last enemy is wiped out

The country has put faith in me
And how can I let that down
I shall fight tooth and nail
Till enemy, s designs are down

Here where the grass turns into serpent
The crystal stream flows red
The noise of bonnet everywhere
The canon puts the stove on fire

The Human Watch raises a roar
Against the army who fights the boar
My countrymen, need no rewards, shower no praise
Your gentle smile is my grace

And in the long battle if I die
Bravely I fought, you tell my Dad
Lady whose hair has just turned grey
My mother, must be engrossed in the pray

The baby with princess smile
Is my daughter with no guile
Let her keep her smile and grace
Give her a chocolate and a car to race

The lady whose voice has just chocked
Is my wife, whom mine safety I had promised
The villagers will all assemble there
To hear what happened in the battle when I was there.
