A Letter In A Poem

Dear Nate,

I write this even before we exchange addresses and places of residency
even before we really truly know one another.
I write this even before I know if I want to write to you.

Even though we’ve already told eachother so much, I want to know more.
I want to know about your first love
I want to know about your first kiss
I want to know how you picture me when (if you ever do) think about me
I want to know about your hopes, dreams, and desires

I’m sorry if this seems a little bit forward of me,
But I just want to know these things about you
If not now, then someday

I know I said I forgive you, and I do but please don’t make me wait
I’m not a patient woman when it comes to you
Whenever you don’t respond, I go back to the girl
I was six months go
I would tell myself “today will be the day”
And that day would come and go
And each new day my heart would beat with anticipation
and then break with despair
So please try not to break my hear too many days in a row

Love,
Me
