A Life Of Our Own Poem by abu tarek md tahsin

A Life Of Our Own

one afternoon in Dhaka
as i walked against the evening tide
with echoes in my mind.

i walked
and i cried
of how tremblingly beautiful
was my life.

the echoes got bright
while the sun dimmed on the western sky.

one afternoon in my life
i realized
how fine
and wonderfully bright
was all along my life.

a love song
thus i sang
wordless at heart
with memories at hand
a tune so soft
a tune
no angel before
had sang in the heavens ever before.

how love
and how life
collided
once in between her mystic eyes.

we had grown old
and flown years and years alone
till no sunrise was empty
with her beauty.

no my love
was not gold
but our hair was silver glow.

and we cherished
as we sought
a life
to be but of our own.
