A Little Girl's Dark Secret Poem by Merrill Hewitt

A Little Girl's Dark Secret

#MeToo now covers the old scares

Scares, that are upstairs hiding to be shared

Scares you cant see

And yet they made me

I am but another victim of this cruel world

Some crawl in a box all curled up

Some take their lives to end the pain

After 4 years I gave up in vain

I did not give up on myself

Nor did I try to rebel

I only asked for help to understand

To help get me out of this wasteland

We called the polices and made a report

But I had a mission would I go forward

Would I ruin an image of a man

Taking down him but also his whole clan

So I didnt, They still don't know

A couple of years ago

He finally died

And then I finally felt free inside

His family grieved as I throw a party

And as they cried I sat in the corner and didnt feel sorry

It was finally over

Now its time for healing and closer

Today I stand strong with my secret

I use to keep it secret but now its a beacon

For those who know my pain

Just know you're not at blame
