A Lonely Soul Poem by Nikhila Churia

A Lonely Soul

I close my eyes;
To the cruel surprise;
I run away;
'You are mad! ', they say.

'Laugh', they demand;
I execute their command;
After all being a puppet;
I am trapped in their net.

While I silently wept;
Lying in the cradle of the night;
Remembering the song long forgotten;
That gave me tears that have now rotten.

As I walk down this lonely path;
Hiding away from this world's wrath;
Leaving memories behind;
I feel a pull from the inside.

A pull so intense;
An aching presence;
So captivating and insane;
Tearing apart my heart's membrane.

The pain supposed to lay hidden;
Which could never get ridden;
Has enclosed me within;
The walls of it's cruel shrine.

My legs tire;
Chasing my own desire;
I feel a strange light;
Envelope the path before my sight.

As I walk to embrace the light;
I see a mirror that shines, so bright;
Right in the middle it lay untouched;
Like a mystical mystery unsolved.

As I stand before it's gaze;
I see it unfold all my fears;
I could see my own reflection cry;
As if it's aching to die.

While my tears roll down;
I realize, I should always have known;
Never to expect anyone to stay;
As the people with wisdom always say.
