A LOOK AT LIFE-20
BY-SMRUTI RANJANMOHANTY

(COMPOSED ON THE EVE OF MY SON'S B'DAY)

That day comes once in a year
And let me remember the moment
That made me a proud father
Filled my life with
The colours of a rainbow
Which was just plain and white
A little before

May God bless you
In sun and shower
And endow you with
All that you truly deserve
And make your journey
All the way nothing but
Free and fair

But never forget the values
You have inculcated
The legacy you have inherited
And the lovely human touch
You have
For these to be reflected
In your dealings
And the way you interact
For others are there
To look it at

You do not know
What you mean to me
I also did not know mine
Until he departed and
Left for his heavenly abode
And made me all alone

Where ever you go
Whatever you do
You will be always
In the heart of my heart
In the soul of my soul
I may not be there in your world
But whenever you fumble
Just close your eyes
I will be right there
Behind your back

Just be a good man
With a loving and compassionate heart
It requires nothing
But an attitude towards life and others
Which I think you very much have
