A Lost Love Poem by LIAM BREHONY

A Lost Love

Last night as I lay
in slumber deep.
Into my dreams
my true love did creep.
Holding and kissing
my God it felt right.
Just as it does
in every dreamy night.

We talked and we joked
and laughted out in glee.
As we walked on the promenade
down by the sea.
We didn`t seem to care
what the world had to say.
This was our time
and this was our day.

As the wind flowed through
your long dark hair.
I looked in your eyes
yes love was still there.
Happiness surrounds us
with each step we take.
Little knowing in moments
that I would awake.

And then the dawn comes
and reality is returned.
An empty bed awaits
from a love that was spurned.
The emptiness of the day
compared to the night.
Oh to dream on forever
would make it just right.
