A Lull In The Flow Poem by Hirst Hysinger

A Lull In The Flow

My deepest wish is to bring to you
A relief from the defacing strains
Left by the suppression of a solitary pain
That appears endlessly lain clear across your face
Subdued and subtle, yet in constant refrain
You try your best to conceal it, but however convincing they may seem,
Your attempts to feign a resistance to this anguish is plain to see
When you resign yourself to a vast empty space
In your quietest times of innermost rain
You don't have to hurt like this
It will only get worse, that is,
If you allow it to sustain
And all your efforts to hide your despair
Would only be in vain
But trust me when I say
If you give me only a moment of your time
I will find a way to remind you
Of what a lovely smile you have again
I'll say something stupid
And make a silly face
Then encircle around you in a warm embrace
Just so that you have a moment to relax
And I'll keep just close enough for that feeling of comfort to last
I won't let you go on troubling yourself
While allowing these thoughts to haunt your mind
I will erase any trace of the worries put in place meaning to treat you so unkind
As long as you want to,
Don't be afraid to stay
Take all the time you need
In order to restore the sublime affection
Of your infectious joyfulness
In the company of tender care
As the somber haze that daunts you
Trails off on it's own, alone
And the daze that kept you down is lifted
Unable to bother you at all any further
And contained in this state it shall remain
Until your gracious spirit fully mends
And you won't have to worry
About the threat of this sorrow
Starting all over again tomorrow
Cause I'll make sure that today never ends
