A Lying Smile Poem by Courtney Henderson

A Lying Smile

Rating: 5.0

In this world lies a girl
Who smiles every day
And laughs for joy
But inside she cries
She lies awake at night
Wondering how could this be
How is it that one day
She was happy
Her world was good
Now she’s depressed
Her world is muck
She sleeps all day
She cries all night
She even thought about ending her life
But she didn’t
And she never will
She just puts on a mask
A mask of joy and hope
Just so that others don’t watch her sulk
Just so that they can’t see her lies
With her smile she tells so many lies
But if you ever look in her eyes
You could tell she is dying inside
