A Misguided Angel - Poem by Nichole Flynn
“Such a beautiful girl, ” she hears…
“What happened? ” they ask…
Her father was never around,
Her mother drank all the time,
Her brother beat her…
“How did she handle it…? ”
Boys…she turned to the arms of awaiting suitors…sex partners…
۞ Then there’s what you guys don’t fucking know!
You see this good, calm girl, this po’or sickly girl…either that or you see me as the slut, the plaything, the party favour…
Which is the real me…
I AM ALL!
Some say I’m flawed, tainted, they call me demon…
Others say I’m misguided, hurt, deceived, and angel of sorts…
Some just say I’m depressed, pathetic…
Who’s to say who’s right…?
I’m not one to judge!
I am merely
You name it…I’m prolly it…at least a little bit…
I have been hurt…
I have skeletons in my closet…
Her father chose his new family
Her mother tries to help, but still ends up choosing alcohol
Her brother chose drugs
You name it!
it’s been through my life
at least in passing
Raped on her mother’s bed…by her mother’s lover nonetheless…
What was one to do? ?
First was alcohol
Then she moved on to bigger men…
Some abused her…
Other’s used her…
I didn’t care…
Any attention was better than none at all…
I had tasted the extacy of love…and it bit me in the ass…
I was havin’ fun and takin’ names…
But all I really wanted was to be in love again…
Then I found love…
In the awaiting arms of the most unlikely person…
He was just another play thing,
I used him
He used me
Then winter break happened…
Love kicked our asses…
Shure we fought back…
But January came,
Love won out,
Just then the law stepped in…
In love and alone
What’s a girl to do…?
