A Moment Of Frost (Poem By Danielle Mikaelian)

One brush against the pine needles in the yard
and our memories tumble down.
Mistletoe surrounds Christmas morning,
as we walk inside the cabin, pricked
by the endings of needles.
An extinguished furnace and the ash
that coats our fingers like winter gloves.
Permeating the air with soft vibrations,
ringing freezes the room.
A blizzard of sound
covers the roof, the floors,
and snows into my ears.
And there is no promise of
warm, igniting evenings in your eyes.
Only frost.
