A Mother's Fear Poem by Renu Beri

A Mother's Fear

Memories,
Of a bundle
Of innocence
God blessed me with.

Fear,
Grasped my heart
The day
My daughter was born.

Will
She be loved
By those
She herself deeply loves.

Can
She bravely endure
The tests
Set down by Fate.

Shall
She successfully face
The challenges
Put forward by life.

Has
She the depth
Of seas
To understand wonderful existence.

Did
She imbibe within
The peace
Depicted by nature around.

Qualities
Of loving humanity
Of compassion
Truth, loyalty and acceptance.

Discern
Right from wrong
And separate
The chaff from grain.

Confidence
In her tenacity
To succeed
In all she attempts.

Comfort
That the Lord
Her Creator,
Will hold her hand

And
Lead her gently
Through alleys
Brightened by his grace.
