The endless night has finally passed away,
The heavy shadows fade into the dark,
A soft, pale morning greets the brand new day,
And wakes the sleeping field and quiet park.
I spent so long just yearning in the shade,
With broken dreams and tears upon my face,
But now the bitter, frozen memories fade,
As warmth returns to this forgotten place.
From where I see the distant, lonely skies,
The canvas that had been a wide, deep night
Is about to change before my weary eyes,
And wash the fading world in pristine light.
It is a change that needs to be brought about,
A sudden spark to break the heavy chain,
To silence every fear and lingering doubt,
And wash away the remnants of the pain.
I've imagined happiness inside my head,
Through lonely dreams that vanish with the day,
But I yearn for the real things instead,
A solid truth that will not fade away.
Above the hills, the pinkish skies unfold,
A new sight opens wide before my eyes,
No longer bound by chains of silver or gold,
I watch the golden sun begin to rise.
Perhaps this dawn is a forgotten chance,
To let anew the things I used to know,
To step ahead into a hopeful dance,
And let the heavy weights of yesterday go.
And perhaps I know it's right around the bend,
Just right around the corner, waiting near,
Where all the broken paths will finally mend,
Like morning dew that rises fresh and clear.
