A New Day



Today, yesterday, and days gone
I saw the night of storms
In all the hurt the world feeds men,
A diet of guns and bullets,
Famine, floods, diseases and malice,
I saw the face of tranquility,
today, very early at dawn.

In the early morning light,
I saw the triumph of light and the defeat of the dark,
A bright day, a new way of life was born.

Peace and joy Lord grant our land,
Let the sleeping masses wake and work,
And we shall be happy in your shadows,
When the sun is high above our heads,
...and the honest smiles of men and women,
Shall never be written off from their faces.
Fingers of light came from the east,
