A Night To Remember Poem by Andy Power

A Night To Remember

Rating: 5.0

An angel smiles, at me?
I skip a beat, mouth dry, hi.
We were alone, people, everywhere.
Wrapped in heat, like a tropical beach,
Better.
Unlike before, unlike me, I was fixed, on her.

Just days spent, my heart raced, unfamiliar.
A solitary note hit me, like bricks,
Happy, I smiled, it’s been a while!
Like magnets, I thought. Maybe not.

Confusion thumps, days pass, it hurts.
Cryptic exchanges leave me unsure, hopeful, sad.
Poles apart? I lay here writing, waiting, wondering.
Setting alight
The third bar, hopeful, emptier now than before.

Saturday scares me,
A black hole. Joy, heartbreak?
Stay away?
It’s different now, I care.
