A Not So Love Letter. Poem by Ivy Kalu

A Not So Love Letter.

It's one of those bad habits, like holding on to a cactus, and drawn to secluded roses
Hoping to remove it's thorns, perhaps it could be a flower in need of rescue
Our stars aligned and our constellations united
But you were the sun, and i, the moon(so far apart and will never meet)
The pain of what was, the grieving of what ought to be and the agony of what will never be
Just like the lirio de los valles that only blossoms in the night and thrives in absolute darkness, remember...that night time is approaching and it only gets dark from here.
I fell in love with the sun, and just like icarus...i forgot i had wings that could melt.
Remember me, the phoenix that rose from its ashes, a fire that shouldn't have started.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
when you start to practice the art of letting go, solitude seems like war, your mind is the battle field and pain is the weapon...untill you reach the state of nirvana.
