A Parrot Life Poem by Apu Mondal

I live like a parrot
So blissfully in my cage
People smile and laugh
Even tease me
I'm only a parrot
Like many more
I eat, sleep and perch
Where I should be
Unaware this is not my
World, but the cage keeps
Me
I sing when I'm free
Eat and drink what I'm
Provided
And peck at my feathers
Not deep enough to
Pinch my birth or belonging
I'm a parrot as parrots
Would be, sweet to many
And funny.
