A Party In Slow Motion Poem by Durman Matsiko Troy

A Party In Slow Motion

We were acting in unison
not as kids
wanting more
but as young men
& women
finally understanding
why so many children
grieve

It became akin
to a party in slow motion
as the night grew longer
while we
such foolish young men
that we were
search for passion's conquest
but all she ever did
was smile

So we scream
no more
we imagine ourselves
as leaders of men
when we were so young
that we believed the truth
was hidden
along the edges of our dreams...
