The Breadwinner And The Poet Poem by Durman Matsiko Troy

The Breadwinner And The Poet

You Got No Poetry in Your Soul

You say I got no poetry in my soul That I'm not built for poetry
That I can't be the breadwinner and poetic as well

But I beg to differ I believe that poetry is for everyone
It doesn't matter what your job is
Or how much money you make

Poetry is a way of expressing yourself
Of sharing your thoughts and feelings with the world
It's a way of connecting with others And finding beauty in the everyday.

So don't tell me I can't be poetic Because I'm the breadwinner
Or because I'm not traditionally 'artistic'

I believe that everyone has a poet inside of them
All you have to do is open your heart and let it out

So go ahead and write a poem About your day,
your dreams,
your fears
About anything that's on your mind

And don't be afraid to share it with the world
Because you never know who might need to hear it

The Breadwinner and the Poet

He's the breadwinner,
she's the poet
Two different worlds,
but they fit together

He's logical,
she's creative
He's practical,
she's dreamy

But they make it work
Because they love each other
And they respect each other's differences

He supports her poetry
And she supports his career
They're a team
And they're stronger together

Poetry in the Everyday

Poetry is not just about writing sonnets
Or rhyming couplets
It's about finding beauty in the everyday

It's about the way the sunlight hits the leaves
The way the wind whispers through the trees
The way the rain falls on your face

It's about the little things that make you happy
The things that make you smile
The things that make you feel alive

So don't be afraid to be poetic
In your own way
Find beauty in the everyday
And share it with the world...
