A ‘pash' For ‘ogden Nash'



Way back in the 1950's
My friend and I were rival rhymesters
Waiting for epithets and nifties
In new-found metrical contrivances.

Ogden Nationality
Was no fan of rationality.
He rhymed uniquely,
While poetasters,
Mere time-wasters,
Did so meekly.

He could aptly stretch a line
To fit the wit of rhyme sublime;
As in his counsel to husbands,
How not to become curse-bands.
