A Pen. Poem by Naser Arafat

A Pen.

Rating: 4.3

A pen is not just a pen,
Although it may cost a fen.
It'll describe you one's ken
which is not possible by men.

A pen and white is great delight:
You can write and shine bright,
Simply cite a beauteous sight
Or put light to what is right.

Perhaps a boon from the Son,
Best weapon under the Sun
For a pen is not just one,
It's more powerful than a gun.

This little great thing is the core
In bringing literature to the fore.
For many literati it has bore;
And would do it evermore.

Wonderful poem, Very well written, very well rhymed. I like the wisdom expressed. The power of words is so big. It helps humans be humans. And the written word prevails. I was 18 when i read: verba volent, scripta manent ({unwritten}words are flying, writings remain) . At that moment the wisdom in this saying penetrated deep in my heart, and writing has been a bit of a passion for me ever since. NIce poem, Naser.

The essence and mighty power of the pen (education) are well depicted in the poem. An insightful piece of poetry, elegantly brought forth in beautiful rhyme scheme with conviction. Thanks for sharing Naser. Please read my poem CHILDREN OF CRUEL FATE.
