A Poem For My Klan Poem by Arely Corral

A Poem For My Klan

I'm struggling with my role of motherhood...
single...as I never imagined playing this role I would...
It's hard to get up in the mornings
knowing I have to leave my babies with total strangers...
hoping they'll be okay..
praying God keeps them from all of life's dangers..
I hate leaving them
as I head off to bring home the paycheck..
At times its too much...
I break down into an emotional wreck..
I work hard with much emotion and dedication...
hoping someday my babies....
will show me love in appreciation...
I'm their mother...I'm their father...I'm also their friend...
my love for them is unmeasurable
my love for them has no end...
I would give my life for them in a second..
If it meant they would be safe..
All I ask for them to be true,
have some pride and behave...
One day when the're grown...
I know my babies will be okay..
They will be content and satisfied
With the life I have given them..
With the sacrifice I have shown...
It's such a chaosl at this moment
as I am taking time to get back on my feet..
But once back up...there will be no one that can beat...
this survivor...this woman...this mother of five..
For my babies are the reason why I'm still alive..
