A Prisoner You Are Poem by ziyanda mbasa

A Prisoner You Are

Rating: 5.0

You have been told and you have listened.
You have been shown and you have seen.
You have been taught and you have learned.

Look how good you are at listening.
How good you are at seeing.
How fast you are at learning and yet you are a prisoner.

A prisoner locked within the cells of your soul.
A prisoner locked within the cells of heart.
A prisoner locked within the cells of your mind.
You are a prisoner.

They told you, you are stupid and you listened.
They showed your ugliness and believed them.
You have been taught how un-worthy you are and you let them.
You are now a product of their opinions.
A creation of their views.
You are a prisoner within the boundaries of your body.

You are locked within the prison of your soul,
Built right in the centre of your spirit.
It turned your joy into sorrow.
It killed your confidence in your self.
You now believe in the opposite of your beliefs.
You have been put into a grave alive by your desire to satisfy others.
You have been put to your death bed by your hunger for love.

Love yourself.
Believe in you.
Unlock that lock.
Set yourself free.
