A Raindrop Poem by BASAB CHAUDHURI

A Raindrop

This is all about my queer imagination which in real life has no value.
As of now the Stock Market is down; most people are full of anxiety.
A bird in hand is more than two in the bush; but my hands are empty.
Emptiness is profoundly significant; like my gaze at a distance - undefined.
This physics is well-settled - cloud forms and when it's too heavy - gravity.
Pulls down or falls because of its own weight - either; but not exactly the same.
Anyway it falls and as long as it falls, there are laws and rules - beauty too.
Where it falls is the question - howsoever tiny it is, can't erase its destiny.
Destiny decides destination - even in relationship - eyes; water in an island.
Sight is fixed at the drop and at the touchdown, my heart breaks like plexiglass.
Shattered; flows in an unknown direction beyond comprehension - terribly.
A raindrop falls for ever - in my heart - and in its fall, I hold the fragments together.
