A Retrospection
I went to many distant lands,
Across the seven seas.
To search for perfect happiness,
And bring in life complete peace.
But it always eluded me,
And I found none.
With despair, I recall the past.
Where has the happiness gone?
And then in my recollections I found out,
the things that shaped my destiny.
And why did happiness veil itself
from its true identity.
Lust for money and love for gold
shaped my life’s complete goal.
I thought of getting rich day and night.
Alas! I didn’t realize it wouldn’t make the future bright.
I left home many years back
To seek out for the ultimate bliss.
But now I realize I left it long ago
in my sweet home where my family lives.
Money to me now is a useless thing.
It can’t bring back my joyful days.
It can’t bring happiness, it can’t bring peace.
It can’t make my life shine with sun’s golden rays.
Happiness! My life cant rewind.
So please engulf me in years to come.
And bring a smile in my sordid heart.
And make sure myeyes have tears none.
Life’s a journey-short and sweet.
We may come across perils we never thought to meet.
There is no need to curse our stars for it.
Because we are the one in the driver’s seat.
