A September Day Poem by Elia Michael

A September Day

September is a lovely time of year
With temperate and sunny sort of days
The morning mists are quick to clear
Dispersed by penetrating sunny rays
But it is not always so mild and fine
At times the rain and wind can spoil this time
And they become a harbinger or sign
Of worsening weather past Autumn's prime
And yet, today, the light is bathing us
With golden streams, delightful sunny beams
Uplifting all around; would it were thus
More frequently, not those winter extremes
Today it is a lovely kind of day
The sun is reigning till he slips away
