A Simple Man Poem by Owen Cullimore

A Simple Man

I am just a simple man
Enjoying life the best I can
Appreciating what God gave
Not becoming a modern life slave

The best things in life are free
God gave them all to you and me
The Air we breathe, the Sun that shines
The Stars at night, the Wind that whines

Just to walk down a leafy Lane
Just to go there and back again
Through the Wood with all God's creatures
Just looking, staring at all the features

To see the Sea in all its majestic splendor
White Horse on the Waves just seem so tender
Feel the Rain as it comes pouring down
On any sleepy little Village or Town

The Birds and Bees so full of life
Their daily lives not full of strive
Dogs and Cats everyone's favorite pets
Until we have to take them to the Vets

A magical walk on a Moonlit night
Enjoying the glow of the Stars so bright
A romantic tryst a stolen kiss
It's things like those I would hate to miss

A nice warm Breeze white Clouds drifting by
As I look up into the universe so high
All of this is ours for free
I just have to think how wonderful life can be

Bright blue Skies that can raise a smile
While we walk and ponder for a while
Its freedom all the way for me
Because the best things in life are free
