A Slap In The Face Poem by Verilyn Titus

A Slap In The Face

Times are getting harder I know this is true...
But why can't you talk to me about things that bother you...
That has always been a stumbling block for us...
We argue in front of the children instead of discuss...
Why can't you see the fear this puts in them...?
I love you daily even though I don't show it now and then...
And where is the behavouir taking us, too...
Or is it going to take me doing it to you...
To break the cycle that I didn't start...
Because each time you touch me you break my heart...
If someone were to treat you as if you were dumb...
Sooner or later you too would become numb...
You should know that by family and me...
Because the pain is inflicted freely and their blame they can't see.
