A Small Baby Poem by Shilpa Chaganti

A Small Baby

A Small baby, tiny and frail
Deserted he was, by all his kith and kin
Wandering the world-
Alone and aimless…
No compass to guide him,
No destination to stop him,

He went with the wind, and ate with the mud
Saving himself from withering out and vanishing
He survived with just the will to make a difference
After a long journey, in the world wild and harsh
He could not stand nor sit nor move ahead
After all, he was tiny and small…

Weakened by everyone and everything around
The Nature too crumpled him with its mighty cruelty
Tyranny of the sun made him flinch
The ruthless wind and rain made him drench and drown

The frail little baby could not move anymore
He was stuck in the mud-
Helpless and isolated
His energy gave up, but not his will...
He wanted to live and make a difference...
He drank it all…
The mud and the sun and the water
Which conspired against him then
Made him alive again now...
He woke with renewed vigor and grit
Broking the tough earth he sprouted up
The sun and earth and water all had to give in

And the frail little baby grew
Heading straight towards the soaring skies...
He was no more weak and helpless
Deep into earth and yet high into sky...
Humble and modest and generous as a sage...
Though mighty and strong as a warrior he became...
