A Smile Poem by Elik Rain

A Smile

Are you willing to do this
for me?
Just lift the tips of your mouth
that lovely rose-bud mouth
and dab on a little rouge
upon your cheek?

Can you do this for me-
let the sparkle in your eyes glow fiercely
and echo in memory for as long as the sea
as far as the ocean
as scintillating as asphalt
on a hot summer's day?

Will you do this for me?

Will you pretend- for just a moment
to live in tranquility
and peace?

Will you take my hand and tell me that
you are happy?

Will you help me delude myself?
Tell me please, dear-
give me a smile.

It is the only thing worth value
in this world.
