A Solo For Two Poem by Maximus D. Redwood

A Solo For Two

We create our own constellations
And stare at the planets above us all.
I watch you grin in fascination
While we run through the trees, greatly tall.
We dance, your hand in mine as we sing together, a duet,
Smiling widely and
Radiant that we have met
As we traverse this brilliant land.

Until your hand gets ripped away,
I will say it over and over, I love you.
Until your life melts away and decays,
I will tell you that I really do.

We create our own songs.
We piece them together perfectly
And together we sing along,
Seldom nervously.
We watch the wind greet the leaves
Together, our hands interlocked.
We watch the shooting stars zoom by and we grant our dreams
Knowing that no one could break our bond.

Until the start of day
Greets us with the brightening sky,
I want to tell you that one day, my voice may be away
Because of my fear that one day you and I would die.

We look into each other's eyes, beaming with glee
As the world around us slows to a still.
We are in this forest, this planet, alone together, you and me
As we dance and sing with skill.
I do not know how
I ended up with you, my love.
We live and waltz through now,
Under the stars above.
