A Song He Sang Poem by kolawole ogunfowokan

A Song He Sang

In the beauty of your calmness
And the comfort of my loneliness
I sought for nothing but peace
Peace that is above all
I found that in my maker
But I needed to feel a touch
A touch on my heart and body
I longed for it all day
I fell along the way
Got distracted and punished
But I held on
And never lost sight of the goal
They were brighter days
And lonely nights
Heartbreaks and scary glimpse
Till I came across you
You brought laughter to my boring days
And calmness to my stormy nights
You showed me what it means to be loved
You were a woman at heart
And a girl in feelings
You struck an arrow but never meant harm
I was struck but not shattered
You led the path to my discovery
Day by day I longed to know you more
Here I stand with your hands in mine
Your eyes steamy
And legs shaky
I feel so proud you became mine
If all it takes is to hold you now and see you smile
I will gladly do that
But seeing you are ready to come home now
I will waste no seconds in guiding you home
I count down to the seconds
I see no crowds
I see where our heart longs to be
I will take you there.
