A Star At A Distance Poem by Jayson Bernal

A Star At A Distance

I trace the outline of your light,
A brilliant fire in the dark,
The most majestic, blinding sight,
That leaves a quiet, permanent mark.
But I will keep my feet in place,
And never reach to hold your spark.
For you're a star to be admired at the distance,
A holy warmth I cannot claim,
I will not challenge your existence,
Or dare to whisper down your name.
I'll love the view, the silent grace,
And keep my heart a quiet flame.
Some things are meant for looking down,
And some are meant to rule the sky.
I will not pull your glory down,
Or wonder at the reason why.
For you're a star to be admired at the distance—
And beautiful enough to fly.
